Fish Pickle (Mackerel)
Preparation time:30 minutes
Cook time: 1/2 hour
INGREDIENTS:
2 Kg Mackerel
(cleaned and cut into small pieces)
Sesame oil for
deep frying
2 tsp
mustard
1tsp. turmeric powder
4 nos Chopped
green chillies.
½ tsp
fenugreek powder
2 lemon
sized tamarind
1 ½ cups
vinegar
6 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
4 tbsp Kashmiri
chilly powder
2 tsp. granulated sugar
4 strings
curry leaves(2 strings chopped)
Salt to taste
PREPARATION
1. 1. Soak tamarind in vinegar for ½ an hour. Extract pulp. Marinate
the fish with turmeric powder, salt for 20 minutes. Heat oil in a deep bottom
pan and fry the fish. Remove from oil once semi- crispy. In the leftover oil
splutter the mustard then add green chillies, curry leaves, ginger garlic paste,
sugar and sauté for 4 minutes. Then add tamarind pulp and salt. Switch- off the
flame then add red chilly powder, fried fish and mix well. Allow to cool and store
in an air tight jar.
