Black forest Cake
Black forest is a cake traditionally originating from Germany. It is basically chocolate cake sandwiched with whipped cream with cherry topping. A typical black forest cake is decorated with additional whipped cream on top with chocolate shavings and maraschino cherries (preserved cherries). The actual recipe requires kirschwasser, which is basically a clear spirit from sour cherries . I usually use rum with sugar syrup while making this cake. But you can avoid alcohol and use alternatives like orange juice.
